January 2013 horoscope - Aries

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 14th April to 15th May or Aries Ascendants or Moons

By Louise Gilbert
After some intense times in the last few months of 2012, the beginning of the New Year should feel like a fresh start Aries. Your solar 9th house of long-distance travel, higher learning, spirituality and religion is activated by the Sun, Mercury, and Pluto forming a trine to your sign. You are now less focused on the small print, finances, tax or insurance issues and instead, you will want to experience new things, learn something new, enroll in a course, meet new people or even explore the world or make plans to do so or you may meet or be more aware of a person in your life that acts as a bit of a mentor for you. I try and think of 9th house transits as a phase where we are lifted up a level so we can see everything from a bird’s eye perspective. It’s that time where we want to expand our horizons and maybe not be so dragged down by everyday life and demands. This is an optimistic time of the year for you.

The new Moon on 11th January at 27 degrees of Sagittarius also falls into the 9th house, making you a little more restless, especially those born later in the sign, i.e. around 9th – 14th April or those with 25 – 30 degrees of Aries. Aries are never afraid to initiate new things, so the time around the new Moon is a good time to initiate new projects or plans connected to travelling, learning or mentoring. In Indian astrology, this new Moon falls in the nakshatra (in Indian astrology, the chart is divided into 27 sections, each is one nakshatra) of Uttarashadha and quite simply means victory. It’s also a competitive nakshatra that pushes us to higher achievements – but always in partnership with others. On the other hand, a new Moon in this nakshatra also means that if we can’t win or reach our goals very easily, we’ll find another path that allows us to achieve these dreams. For you Aries, it seems as though you won’t go on the path of discovery on your own. Although Aries is known for doing things on their own as everyone else is simply too slow to follow, you may be better off to couple of with someone else as it may just get you where you should be.

Then, an important shift takes place this month Aries in one of your pillar houses. The pillar houses –or kendra houses in Indian astrology - are the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th houses and form the foundation of our lives. The 7th house relates to our one-to-one relationships, a key part in everyone’s live. With Saturn’s arrival in your house of committed partnerships first in November 2011 and then again in August 2012 for the next 2 years, you would have already got a taster of the relationships work that lies ahead. The time of the full Moon in October would have also put additional pressure on relationships. However, if you are happily loved up, it would have moved existing partnerships to a new level. This month, the so-called point of destiny, the North node / Rahu and the South node / Ketu move into the signs of Libra and Aries on 15th. The nodes represent our destiny, our greatest desires and for the next 18 months while Rahu is in your partnerships sign, you will be seeking and even craving the best from one-on-one relationships and more balance in all your key partnerships. The task now is to learn to share with others and get to know the other’s likes, dislikes, quirks, habits, routines, hopes, wishes and fears. Ultimately, lasting companionship based on true reciprocity is the goal over the next 1 ½ years, especially with Saturn in the same sign and house. It’ll seem like slow process at times but the results can last a lifetime. It’s a time when we can achieve inner balance necessary for us to achieve our goals through partnerships cooperation with others.

In Indian astrology, this placement is considered to magnify a passion for beauty, design, harmonious relationships, and social order. Rahu is insatiable and enlarges everything it touches, so some of us may take ‘risks’ and become a bit obsessive in wanting to achieve beautifully balanced, equitable social arrangements. Due to the insatiable nature of the Rahu, balancing multiple relationships, and keeping up a flawless public appearance becomes crucial. For you Aries, the coming two years look they will revolutionise your relationships, how you view relationships and what you expect from them. You may have felt Saturn’s influence already over the past months as the mood shifted and if your partnership was on the right track, it would have become stronger, if it wasn’t, issues that you turned a blind eye to previously are no longer acceptable to you now. This applies in particular to Aries Ascendants.

If your Moon is in Aries, it’s a slightly different picture. Of course everything in our lives affects us emotionally to some extent, but with Saturn in opposition to your Moon, this really is a time to look at what's going on inside. Not always easy as the Moon rules our sense of security and stability and if you feel lonely, abandoned, separated from others, don't withdraw into a shell. Although this transit signifies emotional maturing, it may initially feel as though others are placing demands on you that you can’t seem to meet or vice versa. Saturn in opposition to the Moon could affect your family or ‘just’ the relationship with your mother (sometimes, it’s the relationship with the parent of the same gender, if you are a man, it could also be your father). On a more mundane level, you could be moving house over the next two years which in turn could mean that you leave some of the old baggage behind – not just in a literal sense, also emotionally. Initially, this transit will feel a little tough but as with all Saturn transits, the results and especially the maturity come over time.

As the North node / Rahu opposes the Aries Moon over the coming 18 months, you may feel a strong impulsive to do something about Saturn’s restrictive presence. Rahu is impulsive but Saturn undermines that – the best thing to do is to sit back and let some time pass. Take a step back and try to not get caught up in negative emotions too much that may lead you to make rash decisions. The time of the eclipses – for example the end of April 2013 - will highlight certain issues but I will talk more about that closer to the time.

Halfway through the month, there is a shift taking place and your kind of brought back down to earth as your job, career or general life direction demands some attention. During the second half of the month, it’s all about your career and either you find yourself a lot more in your boss’ office discussing a promotion or you are the one presenting new projects to the board. Alternatively, you may even be headhunted or you are actively looking for a new job. Process may feel a little slow with Saturn in a square, which always means that more work and patience is required. Aries is a cardinal sign so this T-square formation always means that you push yourself to new heights – maybe you’ll be surprised at the outcome.

The full Moon on 27th January just a few days before Jupiter, the planet of expansion goes direct in your money house should put the dots on the i’s. Jupiter forms a supportive trine to all the planets transiting your 10th house, meaning that not only are your financial affairs protected, you professional situation also receives a boost. Choose wisely and take your time!

Have a great month and start to the New Year, Aries – it’ll be an exciting one!

January 2013 horoscope - Taurus

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th May to 15th June or Taurus Ascendants or Moons

Taurus, you start the New Year with emotions running high and deep as your 8th house of intimacy is jam-packed. The Sun, Mercury and from the 4th January Venus, your ruler, join Pluto in this area. It’s also the area where some of our deepest transformations take place and perhaps you are about to experience new levels of intimacy and closeness. This is not something that comes very naturally to a level-headed Taurus but feelings will be more intense than usual. Therefore, these transits really are an opportunity to face your innermost fears and anxieties and accept them as part of who you are. Ultimately, this enables you to deal with them more effectively. This transit is an opportunity to learn that jealousy is not a very healthy emotion in relationships and that they are based on tolerance and balance instead of surrendering to power games.

Alternatively, this transit can simply mean money and other people’s resources. So, for the first half of January 2013, you may have to deal with some (shared) finance-related questions and situations but the new Moon on 11th January should be a bit of a turning point. It’s a time of new beginnings, so if things seem a little slow earlier on in the month and you are waiting for decisions to be made, the new Moon will help move things along somewhat. It seems as though a financial situation is going your way and decisions on loans, insurance payments, tax returns, bonuses etc. should be yours for the taking. Expect another step in the right direction from the end of January and into February when a final decision is made or before payments start coming through. If there are tensions, then after the new Moon and later in the month as well as into February is the time when things ease a lot more and you will gain some more clarity around your finances or those you share with your partner.

In this case, again, it relates to your finances, it really seems as though more money should be coming your way in the end.

Another important shift takes place this month Taurus when the North node / Rahu and the South node / Ketu move out of your sign and the one in opposition, Scorpio and into the signs of Libra and Aries on 15th. The nodes represent our destiny, our greatest desires and generally speaking, for the next 18 months while Rahu is in the partnership sign, many of us are seeking and even craving the best from one-on-one relationships and more balance in the house ruled by Libra in your chart. Our task now is to learn to share with others and get to know the other’s likes, dislikes, quirks, habits, routines, hopes, wishes and fears. Ultimately, lasting companionship based on true reciprocity is the goal over the next 1 ½ years, especially with Saturn in the same sign. For you Taurus, this happens in your 6th house of health routines and work. It is also the house of conflict and potentially divorce. This is not to say that you will get divorced, however, Rahu magnifies everything it touches so there may be more inclined to give in to arguments and confrontation instead of taking a deep breath. Alternatively, you could be more prone to attract imbalanced relationships because the 6th house is the house where we are asked to be of service so there is a natural imbalance at play. While this often relates to business and personal relationships, it can also extend to co-workers or your own employees. The more you are aware of this the better you will be able to handle this transit.

The second half of the month is then a lot more light-hearted and outgoing than the first half. You are less bogged down with finances and less focussed on the thoughts swirling around your head, after all finances and emotional security is practically one and the same thing to a Taurus, and instead, you now look at the bigger picture. Planets start moving into the house of the higher mind, travels, religion, spirituality and further education – all areas in life that expand your horizons. Your thoughts may be on far-away places or perhaps you even are on a plane to warmer climates and to soak up some culture. The full Moon on 27th January may make you feel a little more restless and in need of some mental stimulation, so a good time to start planning that holiday or even work on an idea you’ve had and which, as part of your New Year’s resolutions, you are now ready to implement. However, it could also be the case that other people are chewing your ear off, a pile of paperwork needs to be worked through, your siblings are a little more demanding or your car needs an MOT. This full Moon receives planetary support from Jupiter and Uranus, so situations connected to these areas could develop and happen quite quickly.

The month then ends with Jupiter in your 1st house moving forward again. Since the summer of 2012 you may have felt more upbeat and that the future is brighter than it has been for some time. This transit it about learning and gaining new experiences and in your case, it is about not hiding your talents anymore and having the courage to be more outgoing. It’s a time when you believe in yourself more and a time of personal growth. Often, I have seen pregnancies taking place under this transit but other factors need to be in place too. In any case, this can also be a possibility as the 1st house is also your physical body and Jupiter expands everything it touches – which also means not to overdo it with the sweets. Jupiter moving forward again simply means that the flow and the movement towards growth should be a little more smooth again.

January 2013 horoscope - Gemini

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th June to 15th July

2013 is shaping up to be a big relationship year and in January you may already get a feeling of what it’ all about. Your 7th house of committed relationships is jam-packed with planets for the first half of the month. Your focus is on relationships this month and for the whole of 2013. Pluto is in this house signifying a very transformative time while Saturn is in your 5th house of fun and romance – so relationships are serious business now. With Saturn in the 5th house and you may perhaps feel like you’re stuck or that romance is not so readily available. However, ultimately what this transit also does is make sure you choose you partners wisely. I’ve mentioned this previously but perhaps you find yourself attracted to someone who is older. This transit will also help you with any creative projects, giving you the discipline to see them though and learn from mistakes you have made in the past.

The big news in January is the entry of the North node / Rahu into the sign of Libra on 15th and into your house of true love and romance. Generally speaking, for the next 18 months while Rahu is in the partnership sign, many of us are seeking and even craving the best from one-on-one relationships and more balance in the house ruled by Libra in your chart. Our task now is to learn to share with others and get to know the other’s likes, dislikes, quirks, habits, routines, hopes, wishes and fears. Ultimately, lasting companionship based on true reciprocity is the goal over the next 1 ½ years, especially with Saturn in the same sign. For you Gemini, this again puts the focus on flirting and simply increases your desire to meet The One.

The new Moon on 11th January in Sagittarius in your house of relationships means a new start in partnerships. With some many planets in this house, you simply can’t get away from one-to-one encounters, dealing with someone else’s needs and demands, taking the one particular relationship to the next level. There will be a lot of discussion around what the other person expects from a relationship and whether or not this is compatible with what you are looking for. With Pluto there it can also be quite black and white and watch out of power games. In Indian astrology, this new Moon falls in the nakshatra (in Indian astrology, the chart is divided into 27 sections, each is one nakshatra) of Uttarashadha and quite simply symbolises victory. It’s also a competitive nakshatra that pushes us to achievements – but always in partnership with others. On the other hand, a new Moon in this nakshatra also means that if we can’t win or reach our goals very easily, we’ll find another path that allows us to achieve these dreams – or, in this case, achieve your relationship goals.

The focus in the second half of the month then shifts to joint resources, insurance, tax, loans and generally speaking other people’s money. When there is such a big focus on this house, it can put a bit of pressure on you financially or it can simply mean that circumstances almost force you to sort out that paper work! This year, it can also relate to your job. Maybe you are in the process of changing careers - Uranus is in the 10th house of profession – and you are putting the final touches on a new contract. Think about what happened at the end of April 2012. It could have been a time of crisis with some challenges attached to it and a sense of urgency that something needs to change. Maybe you’ve been thinking about a new job already back then. Now, towards the end of January around the time of the full Moon, the picture becomes very clear and you’ll be able to take it or leave it. Transits operate on several levels so apart from money this could have also been in connection to everything the 8th and 2nd houses represent: intimacy, your own values and those you share, your fears and anxieties, your sense of security etc.

Monthly solar horoscopes are very general, so get in touch if you are interested in an individual chart reading or your 2013 forecast. In readings, I use the Indian Dasha system in individual forecasts which is known for its accuracy. You can also follow me on Facebook, see you there!

January 2013 horoscope - Cancer

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th July to 15th August or Cancer Ascendants and Moons

The New Year starts with Mars, the pioneer amongst the planets, in your 7th house of committed relationships. Mars is where we put all our energy or where we want to put all our energy and for you, this relates to your closest partnerships whether they are business related or personal. So, if there is something in one particular relationship that has been bothering you for some time, the moment has come to speak up. Best to start the process now as February will be a big relationship month for you so you want to clear the road ahead as much as possible. What’s important during this time, however, is to keep your temper in check. Mars squares Saturn for the first few days of January and if family demands during the Christmas season got a bit too much, don’t get into unnecessary arguments. Even if you feel frustrated – perhaps due to slow progress – take a deep breath first. A little bit of distance has never done any harm - arrange a night out with your friends and let bygones be bygones.

So, your relationship is one part that keeps you busy in January, the other part, for the first two weeks anyway, is your work and health routine that come under the spotlight. Yes, we’re all thinking about our New Year resolutions but maybe you belong to the few people this year to actually follow through on them. Time to join that gym, apply for a new job or, if you are in such as position, introduce positive changes in your work place! I am still asking for comments and feedback on how 6th house activities manifest for people, so please let me know if any of the above feels relevant for you especially around the time of the new Moon on 11th January (or the full Moon on 28th December!). Get in touch and let me know if there have been changes for you in these areas.

So, the new Moon on 11th January in Sagittarius in your house of day-to-day routines then is the time for you to start afresh and implement your new health and fitness routines or improve your work situation. It’s of course a time of the year when business and project plans are being discussed, finalised and progressed but this year, maybe you feel particularly caught up in the task. The Moon and the Sun alongside Pluto, Venus and Mercury are all joined up, so a lot of energy is poured into these areas of your life for the first half of January 2013. On the other hand, a new Moon in this nakshatra also means that if we can’t win or reach our goals very easily, we’ll find another path that allows us to achieve these dreams – or, in this case, make the relevant and positive changes to your daily routines or ways of working.

The big news in January is the entry of the North node / Rahu into the sign of Libra on 15th. For you Cancer, this happens in your 4th house of family, emotions, your home and the past. The 4th house is one of the pillars in the horoscope, alongside the 1st, 7th and 10th houses, which means that it can affect many areas in our lives through just one of the ‘pillar’ houses.  This is fairly easy to see as this house affects our internal life, our emotions and how we feel about things. Cancer of course rules emotions, so the next two years will be quite important for you – especially if you have your Moon in Cancer. As your emotional life changes, so will your expectations and how other people see you, what you want from life, the type of partner you choose and the kind you don’t choose anymore. On a more mundane level, this can also simply affect where you life and put down roots. So you see, it can affect your whole life –starting from this month!

The full Moon on 27th January falls across your house axis of the self and other people which includes your committed partnerships. This can also affect your relationship status. It’s a time to meet someone new or bridge the gap between a bit of flirtation to something more serious. There will be a lot of discussion going on around your partnerships, what shape your most intimate relationship takes or should take moving forward. This may even include joint finances.  Full Moons are often turning points but as opposed to the new Moons, it’s a turning point that we’ve seen coming for some time or suddenly all the information we need is available to us and we’re ready to make a decision.  This full Moon receives planetary support from Jupiter and Uranus but also a square from Saturn. So, if you decide to end a relationship or situation or move forward with it and take it to the next level, it can all happen quite suddenly and the consequences seem to be long-term. In the final days of January, Venus moves into your solar 7th house to smooth out any imbalances in relationships or attract a partner to you that represents something solid in your life. Although some might say that Venus in Capricorn is not the best placement (well, it isn’t), it actually exchanges signs with Saturn. Saturn is in the sign of Venus and vice versa. In Indian astrology, this mutual exchange is called parivartana and is an extremely helpful aspect. It means that your home life and / or inner world forms a strong link to your most committed relationships – perhaps who you do business with also lives with you, i.e. your partner. Houses and transits operate on many different levels so this is just an example.

The month then ends with your ruler Jupiter going direct on 31st January in your 11th house of your hopes, dreams and gains.  Your network of friends may be increasing and becoming more and more international but Jupiter in this house simply makes for a positive attitude which is crucial for achieving one’s goals. It’s the kind of optimistic attitude that says ‘I won’t have it any other way. The 11th house is also one of the income houses, Jupiter in this position should also have a positive impact on your bank account.

Monthly solar horoscopes are very general, so get in touch if you are interested in an individual chart reading or your 2013 forecast. In readings, I use the Indian Dasha system in individual forecasts which is known for its accuracy. You can also follow me on Facebook, see you there!

January 2013 horoscope - Leo

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th August to 15th September or Leo Ascendants and Moons

When I looked at your chart Leo, especially for January, it seemed as though things are literally on the UP for you. Bar Saturn, all planets are heading towards the highest point in your chart over the coming months and years and this literally represents a peak time in your life. You’re about to ‘get to the top’ and maybe you’ve already started to experience that uplifting feeling with Jupiter at the top of your chart. Although Jupiter doesn’t feel great in the house that is traditionally associated with Capricorn, you should still at times, get a sense of greater freedom in your career and opportunities for expansion and recognition should have come your way over the past months. While, Jupiter was in retrograde motion over the past months, at times you may have wanted to play rather than set and follow the rules or perhaps the responsibilities at work prevented you from working on your creative interests, from having some fun or even from pursuing romantic interests.

You’ll be pleased to hear that January 2013 will be a big month for you on the romance front! Jupiter, the ruler of your solar 5th house of fun and true love is moving forward again and the end of January. Not only should this untie some of the knots when it comes to your love life, work-related opportunities are also finally becoming more available again. Jupiter in this house ensures you look at the bigger picture of where your life is taking you rather than focusing on the small print.

The new Moon on 11th January at 27 degrees of Sagittarius in your 5th house is also really good news for you. It is an opportunity for you to start afresh when it comes to romance and relationships! The Moon and the Sun alongside Pluto, Venus and Mercury are all joined up in this area, putting you in a light-hearted mood. For these first two weeks of the New Year, you’ll be taking centre-stage and romance is high on your agenda. It could happen quite suddenly with Uranus aspecting your 5th house for the foreseeable future. This may mean that although the attracting can be magnetic, it can also be a somewhat unstable connection. Take it easy Leo and keep your eyes and ears open for the tell-tale signs. You also have Neptune, the planet of illusion in your house of committed relationships and although this can bring someone quite creative and romantic into your life, the desire to ignore alarm bells is more prominent now.

On the other hand, a new Moon in this nakshatra also means that if we can’t win or reach our goals very easily, we’ll find another path that allows us to achieve these dreams.  In this context and in your house of fun and creativity it can of course relate to romance but also creative projects. Time to team up with someone who complements your skills!

The big news in January is the entry of the North node / Rahu into the sign of Libra on 15th. For you Leo, this happens in your 3rd house of communication, siblings, neighbours, gadgets, cars, short-distance travel and early schooling. All of these areas receive a subtle or sometimes not so subtle make-over over the coming two years. Especially with Saturn in the 3rd house, your thoughts may become a little more rigid but also more structured – this is especially useful if you are dealing with the media. During this time it’ll be important for you not to swallow your anger; the 3rd house is connected to the nervous system so not speaking up when you feel pushed into a corner could lead to some anxiety. Try and be cooperative over the next few months.

After mid-January, the mood changes slightly and your day-to-day routines including work and health become a big focus. It’s about improving these routines – signing up for a gym class, spring-cleaning your desk at work, sorting out work related admin…etc.

The full Moon on 27th January then also falls in the area of your chart that rules letting go and the things you do or work on that other people don’t tend to see at first sight or that you want to keep hidden from view for the time being. Full Moons are often turning points but as opposed to the new Moons, it’s a turning point that we’ve seen coming for some time or suddenly all the information we need is available to us and we’re ready to make a decision.  This full Moon receives planetary support from Jupiter and Uranus and for you, is related to your future. It’s the start of a new year, so what is it that you want to leave behind in the 2012? You may feel the need to spend some time alone for a couple of days or if that’s not possible, you may be a little bit more withdrawn. Follow that instinct and your intuition to clear your thoughts. This will then allow you to enter February with a clearer mind and ready to commit or at the very least focus on your closest personal or business partnerships – these will require a lot of your attention then so take the time out while you can.

Monthly solar horoscopes are very general, so get in touch if you are interested in an individual chart reading or your 2013 forecast. In readings, I use the Indian Dasha system in individual forecasts which is known for its accuracy. You can also follow me on Facebook, see you there!

January 2013 horoscope - Virgo

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th September to 15th October or Virgo Ascendants and Moons

Virgo, on the one hand, the spotlight this month is still on changes in your emotions life. The foundations of who you are and how you feel about yourself, the world, your past, maybe a parent are undergoing profound transformations. This also has an impact on your relationships which may have been a little unstable over the past years. This is due to Uranus, the planet of sudden disruption in your house of partnerships but also Pluto, the great transformer, is in your 4th house of emotions. During this time, you are undergoing profound internal transformation. In January, you not only have Pluto in this house, you also have the Sun, Mercury and Venus there for the first half of the month. You may feel a little bit more withdrawn while you become clearer about how you feel about ‘stuff’. Don’t worry, in the second half of the month it’s all about romance!

On the other hand, these transits can simply point to you wanting to move, actually moving or giving your home a major make-over. Then, this transit could also affect or modify family relationships. Pluto is in an ongoing square to Uranus and while these kind of aspects mainly affect society as a whole, they of course also have an impact on our personal lives. The best way to deal with this somewhat volatile energy is to try and adapt as best as possible. Although remaining flexible will be one of the biggest challenges, rigidity won’t help and is likely to make the situation worse. Ultimately, what is happening in your chart now can be quite liberating as you are more inclined to look towards the future. Virgo is also a mutable sign, so adapting to change is not something you generally have too much difficulty with.

The new Moon on 11th January at 27 degrees of Sagittarius in your 4th house is an opportunity for you to start afresh. It falls in the nakshatra (in Indian astrology, the chart is divided into 27 sections, each is one nakshatra) of Uttarashadha and quite simply symbolises victory. It’s also a competitive nakshatra that pushes us to achievements – but always in partnership with others. On the other hand, a new Moon in this nakshatra also means that if we can’t win or reach our goals very easily, we’ll find another path that allows us to achieve these dreams.  In this context and in your 4th house this can primarily relate to your home environment – it’s an opportunity to tackle issues related to this area in life and accept the support of those around you.

Mars meanwhile is in your house of true love and romance and will be joined by the Sun and Mercury from mid-month. So your mind is not on having a bit of fun, you’re coming back out of your shell and are ready for some romance in your life. Especially the end of January and February is an excellent time for that. This can also be connected to your creative projects, children or even performance – maybe you’ll suddenly find yourself on some metaphorical or even actual stage.

The other big news in January is the entry of the North node / Rahu on the 15th  into your 2nd house of earned income. Your area of work as well as how you earn your money and how much is under the spotlight now for the next 2 or so years. Generally speaking, for the next 18 months while Rahu is in Libra, many of us are seeking and even craving the best in one-on-one relationships and more balance in the house ruled by Libra in your chart. Our task is now to learn to share with others and get to know the other’s likes, dislikes, quirks, habits, routines, hopes, wishes and fears. Ultimately, lasting companionship based on true reciprocity is the goal over the next 1 ½ years, especially with Saturn in the same sign. For you Virgo, this shift takes place in your house of your income. With Neptune in your 6th house of work, perhaps you have been quite dissatisfied or disillusioned with your job and you are looking to change careers. If this is the case, it may have an impact on your income initially. Alternatively, this could just be connected to changes in the value you put on money. Maybe you slowly start thinking that a big pay slip it’s not so important to you anymore. It’s not the easiest transit as initially, you may feel that you just don’t have enough but it’s an important time during which you become aware of what is really important to you.

The full Moon on 27th January then also falls into your solar in the area of your chart that rules the love, romance, fun and creativity. Full Moons are often turning points but as opposed to the new Moons, it’s a turning point that we’ve seen coming for some time or suddenly all the information we need is available to us and we’re ready to make a decision.  This full Moon receives planetary support from Jupiter and Uranus so a lot of positive movement can be expected in this area. The second half of January seems to be a great time for you to meet someone new if you are looking.

The month then ends with your ruler Jupiter going direct on 31st January in your 9th house of the higher mind. It seems as though a lot of what is going on in your chart is connected to how you feel and think. All of this is in a state of transformation and with Jupiter in the 9th house, you’re hungry for new experiences either through travelling, learning, spirituality or even religion. Jupiter also rules your 7th house of committed partnerships, so perhaps you find yourself coupled up with someone from a faraway land over the coming months. This can of course also relate to business partnerships – who knows, your next offer for a partnership might come via the internet or via someone you met while travelling and who can help you expand your business and take your ideas out into the big wide world.

January 2013 horoscope - Libra

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th October to 15th November or Libra Ascendants and Moons

When I looked at your chart for the month, the one thing that stood out was that all planets apart from Jupiter in your solar 8th house, occupy the houses 1-6 in your solar chart. When so many planets occupy what is called the Northern Hemisphere, we tend to be a little bit more private and focused on the development of our own personalities and identities. During this time, you may put more emphasis on keeping things private or at least not feeling the need to share too much. Your outlook is more subjective than it may be at other times which of course can lead to a great sense of ‘I get it’!

This trend of self-realisation continues for you for the coming two years. The entry of the North node / Rahu on 15th January 2013 into your sign only puts even more of an emphasis on this. For you Libra, this shift takes place in your 1st house of self! You may at times feel like an outsider, especially with Saturn in the same sign but this is ok – who you are and how others see you is changing and coming to terms with the new you takes time. Now, Saturn in 1st solar house has settled there for the first time in 29 – 30 years. It’s the beginning of a new cycle and if you are old enough to remember when it came the last time round, think about what happened then. You may be faced with similar issues or circumstances but in a different way. This is your chance to digest what you have been carrying with you since that time and to let it go. Everything that is happening for you at the moments pushes you into a new direction so don’t let unnecessary thoughts, feeling and responsibilities hinder you. It’s a heavy transit and you may can be a bit more critical when it comes to yourself and others so be careful not to put up barriers around you that are too high for others to cross and connect with you. Saturn requires a lot of effort but you will see the results over time - slowly but surely. Talking about responsibility, there may be more responsibility for you in the years to come but this is simply a consequence of you outgrowing your past.

For you, Saturn also rules your solar 4th house and in transit through the 1st house, this can mean that you identify more with the teaching or a parenting role – does this ring any bells?

As we progress into the month, your solar 3rd house energy is packed with planets. The 3rd house belongs to Gemini so there may be some more Mercurial qualities about the way you talk, you communicate in general, your phone may not stop ringing for the first half of January 2013. This is also one of the houses of deals and business (and busy-ness!) so you may be here, there and everywhere due to your job or maybe your children have a lot more going on than usual which sees you chauffeuring them around more than usual. This is an active time, you may be more curious and perhaps you find yourself not being able to concentrate on one subject for too long. You’re a bit like a sponge this month soaking up new experiences.  Short-term travel is also on the cards....

The new Moon on 11th January at 27 degrees of Sagittarius in your 3rd house is an opportunity for you to start afresh and falls in the nakshatra (in Indian astrology, the chart is divided into 27 sections, each is one nakshatra) of Uttarashadha and quite simply symbolises victory. It’s also a competitive nakshatra that pushes us to achievements – but always in partnership with others. On the other hand, a new Moon in this nakshatra also means that if we can’t win or reach our goals very easily, we’ll find another path that allows us to achieve these dreams.  In this context and in your 3rd  house this can primarily relate to business deals – towards the end of the month, issues with loans and other people’s money should ease and progress so for me, the two things seem connected. Responsible for a boost in one of your money houses is Jupiter, who is moving forward again at the end of January and who rules your solar 3rd house.

Mars meanwhile is in your house of emotional wellbeing and consequently of happiness. We’re only happy when our emotions are in the right place and when you feel secure. Mars here can make you a bit restless and also quite quick off the mark when it comes to reacting to others’ comments or behaviour, so watch that tendency to overreact. On a different level, this energy also extends to everything going on around the place where you live. Maybe you’re moving home or are thinking about it. You’ll have the energy to do whatever you need to get things done around the home now. The last week in January and certainly February 2013 will be huge for your home environment anyway so maybe if you are planning a move or planning to buy a property that really will be a focus then.

The full Moon on 27th January then also falls into your solar in the area of your chart that rules the home and property. Full Moons are often turning points but as opposed to the new Moons, it’s a turning point that we’ve seen coming for some time or suddenly all the information we need is available to us and we’re ready to make a decision.  This full Moon receives planetary support from Jupiter and Uranus so a lot of positive movement can be expected – again, this is amongst other things connected to other people’s resources (i.e. the Bank, if you’re applying for a mortgage!).

The last week of the month and in February is also a time when the focus is on romance and true love. Mars moves into your 5th house of fun and creativity putting you into a flirtatious mood. This of course means that attracting new partners seem a lot easier – the air around you is certainly changing. In any case, during this time, you will benefit a lot more from partnerships, both financially and emotionally. Be open and ready to commit yourself!

January 2013 horoscope - Scorpio

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th November to 15th December or Scorpio Ascendants and Moons

Money, money, money…makes the world go round. Certainly in the first half of January, it’s what keeps your world spinning. Mars, your co-ruler, is exalted in the 3rd house of communication, negotiation and business deals and remains there until 26th. You’ll really have the drive to ask for what you want as well as the tenacity to not take no for an answer. Often, this transit is also connected to short-distance travels and maybe you have the desire to get away for the weekend and catch some winter sun. However, in your case, I have a feeling it’s a little different this time round. Your 2nd house of earned income is chock-a-block with planetary energies. The Sun, Mercury, Pluto and from the 5th January, also Venus all gather in this house. You do have the power to attract a very handsome sum of money but it is also likely that your attitude towards your finances continues to change. You do have the opportunity at the moment to get the salary you have been working towards or increase your clients base, especially in February and onwards, but somehow I also feel that maybe it’s more to do with you attitude towards cash that is transforming. The reason I say that is because you are finishing up a long cycle over the next 2 – 3 years with Saturn in your 12th house. This is the house of letting go of the old and before you can let in the new. Neptune is in your solar 4th house of the past and your emotions. It kind of dissolves whatever it touches so you maybe a little unsure of who you are at the moment and you may idealise some of the memories you hold of your past. However, this is a non-materialistic planet to have in this house and although it may be confusing, it can also contribute to you changing how you feel about the outer world with all its materialistic demands.

The North node / Rahu changes signs on 15th January 2013, moving into the sign of Libra where it will remain for the next 18 months. During this time, many of us are seeking and even craving the best in one-on-one relationships and more balance in the house ruled by Libra in your chart. Our task is now to learn to share with others and get to know the other’s likes, dislikes, quirks, habits, routines, hopes, wishes and fears. Ultimately, lasting companionship based on true reciprocity is the goal over the next 1 ½ years, especially with Saturn in the same sign. For you Sag, this shift takes place in your 12th house of behind the scenes activities and letting go. Along with the new Moon a few days earlier, on 11th January in the same house, it really is a time when get rid of what you don’t need anymore. Scorpio is a fixed water sign, so letting go of unwanted or outdated or unhealthy emotions is not always easy for you so do use this opportunity to become more aware of what this may concern. Over the next couple of years, you’ll then be confronted with events and situations that eventually make you shed those layers you don’t need anymore.

The full Moon on 27th January then falls into your solar in your 3rd house of siblings, communication, neighbours and short-distance travels. Full Moons are often turning points but as opposed to the new Moons, it’s a turning point that we’ve seen coming for some time or suddenly all the information we need is available to us. The January 2013 full Moon is in a nice sextile to supportive Jupiter, a trine with innovative Uranus but also in a square to sobering Saturn. In your 9th house of higher education, long-distance travel, religion and spirituality and your personal beliefs may come under scrutiny. On a more mundane level, you may just be talking a lot about your beliefs or you’re planning a trip abroad. If you are travelling over this time, it will really help you expand your horizons.

The month then ends with Jupiter going direct on 31st January in your 7th house of partnerships. This is great news for couples who want to deepen their bond or for business partnerships to get back on the straight and narrow.

If you are single, then Uranus in your 5th house of love and romance which will remain there for a number of years, ensure that romances that have served their purpose are discarded more quickly than usual and the partners you choose are quite unusual or even eccentric. Alternatively, you may suddenly have a completely different idea of what self-expression means to you and how you go about it….you see, it all goes hand in hand with the changes you are experiences when it comes to your emotions and your past. Your future certainly looks very different and all you can do, is enjoy the ride!

January 2013 horoscope - Sagittarius

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 16th December to 14th January or Sagittarius Ascendants and Moons

I like what I see for you in January 2013, Sagittarius. The fog of the past couple of months shifts and as most years, really, you enter the New Year with bags of energy. The Sun, Mercury and Pluto are all in you 1st house of self and, your body and your physical vitality. Not only do you have a lot of physical stamina now, you also seem to be much clearer about what you want and how to get there. Venus, the planet of love, generally speaking, and in your chart, the planet that also rules your hopes and dreams follows on the 5th January. This placement makes you more charming, attractive and open to new experiences; it now seems a little easier for you to turn your dream into reality with the help of your vast network, friends and your community. With so many planets in the solar 1st house, it may be no surprise that your mind also turns towards yourself and how you are viewed by other people. With Pluto, the planet of deep transformation hovering over your 1st house, changes in who you are, maybe how you look and how you dress have been on the agenda for a number of years. This month, it still affects especially those born from 29th December – 2nd January or those with their Ascendants at 12 – 17 degrees of Sagittarius. Major changes in your home environment and emotional evolvement are also still at play which may also be tied into how you go out into the world. Perhaps you are moving house or are planning to over the next few months?

The new Moon on 11th January at 27 degrees of Sagittarius in your 1st house is yet another opportunity for you to start afresh. It’s a time to reinvent yourself, it’s that time of the year when you have a lot of personal energy and where you can put your best foot forward. While this is not directly associated with meeting someone new, your new outlook can lay the foundations for a new partnership – in any case, you’ll see the results six months later at the Gemini full Moon at the end of June.

The big news this month also is that the North node / Rahu changes signs on 15th  January 2013, moving into the sign of Libra where it will remain for the next 18 months. For you Sag, this shift takes place in your 11th house of friends, gains, networks and your hopes and dreams. I already said this last month but the next couple of years can be quite lucrative for you with exalted Saturn in this house and this month, exalted Mars travels through your 2nd house of earned income. It very much seems as though you can attract or negotiate the right pay package for you. Use the first two weeks of the month to do the groundwork and apply for a new job if that’s what you want, or go for the higher position. The second half of January is then the best time to talk money. It’s seems to be less of a question of when but how much. As always, transits can have two sides and this one at the end of January can turn you into a spendthrift. Keep your money in your wallet and your wallet in your handbag or even better, at home. You may be attracting some money to you but you may also feel like spending more than you have. If that’s the case, turn the energy around and think about why you feel like spending so much…!

You’re not meant to go it alone in the next couple of years and the concept of partnerships is also emphasised by the nakshatra placement of the new Moon (in Indian astrology, the chart is divided into 27 sections, each is one nakshatra). This new Moon falls in the nakshatra of Uttarashadha and quite simply symbolises victory. It’s also a competitive nakshatra that pushes us to achievements – but always in partnership with others. On the other hand, a new Moon in this nakshatra also means that if we can’t win or reach our goals very easily, we’ll find another path that allows us to achieve these dreams.

The full Moon on 27th January is in your solar 8th house. In your 8th house, this relates to other people’s resources, whether emotional or financial, others hold the key to your financial situation now. This can simply mean that after all the negotiating in January, it is ultimately still up to someone else how much ends up in your bank account. There is a lot of planetary activity going on around the financial axis of your chart this month and the last view days should really see discussion, doubts or hesitations come to a close.

The month then ends with your ruler Jupiter going direct on 31st January in your 6th house of work and health routines which may just be the final move to do the i’s and cross the t’s!

A huge amount of progress in many areas of your life and a great start to the year! Enjoy!

January 2013 horoscope - Capricorn

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 15th January to 12th February or Capricorn Ascendants and Moons

December is always a bit of a quieter month for you Capricorn as you wind down and let the past year’s experiences sink in and as you enter the New Year, this slightly foggy feeling still prevails - only for a little bit of time. Although part of you wants to get out there and start working on your New Year’s resolutions and implement those ideas you’ve dreamed up over the past months, you may just have to do a little bit more internal work in the background. It’s a good time to let go of old habits and patterns that no longer serve you and really become clear about what has always held you back before you start climbing the ladder again. For the first half of the month, you have a whole host of planets in your solar 12th house – the house of secrets, behind the scenes activities and hidden skills. Think about that one thing you’re really into and that you want to develop over the coming months. Do some research now and start looking into what it is you really want to do or even expand on. Your 10th house of life direction is under review for quite some time so any inspirations could proof quite lucrative. Uranus is currently in your 3rd house of communication and bright ideas, so visions and insights might come quite sudden.

The big news this month is that the North node / Rahu changes signs on 15th January 2013, moving into the sign of Libra where it will remain for the next 18 months. For you Capricorn, this shift takes place in your 10th house of life direction and will affect those born around the 10th – 12th February the most or those with the rising signs at around 25 – 30 degrees of Capricorn. In particular if your ascendant is in Capricorn, you will feel the effects of this transit more. Over the next 18 months, you may suddenly – or finally – find yourself in a leadership role, or you may have a stronger desire to be in one. Maybe self-employment will be the answer. Your ruler Saturn is in the same sign and house which means that there will also be a bit of a push and pull energy going on at times. As a Capricorn, however, you do have the necessary stamina and foresight to get through any challenges. The challenges really will be around equality and compromising so try and stay clear of imbalances in the work place.

The new Moon on 11th January at 27 degrees of Sagittarius in your 12th house of secrets might even in some way help you kick start the entry of Rahu in your 10th house a few days later by allowing you to let go of old viewpoints and expectations.

The more we get into January, the more energy you’ll have. It’s like a big wave that coming in from the sea. Slowly, planets will move into your solar 1st house and you’re ready for action. Mars, Sun, Mercury are moving through your house of self, followed by Venus from 29th. Now is the time to start putting your plans into reality, start connecting with people and have discussions with them about your future plans and how they can help you achieve them.

Of course, this transit also means it is a good time to attract people to you. For those who are coupled or single, from the end of January onwards, you’ll move up a level in the romance department. You should feel more attractive and attract the kind of suitors to you that make you feel good about yourself. This is due to Venus in your 1st house and Jupiter in your 5th house of children, love and romance resuming direct motion on 31st. So romance is definitely in the air late January and February 2013. Some might say that because of a square to Saturn, feelings may be cool to begin with or cool down shortly after meeting someone. However, Saturn is in the sign of Venus and Venus is in the sign of Saturn – in fact, those two planets will be supporting each other to make the right choices and prevent you from thinking you should be there when you’re here. This goes for business and personal connections.

The full Moon on 27th January is in your solar 7th house. In your 7th house, this relates to committed partnerships. This is always the time of the year for you when relationships can take a turn for better or for worse and again, this may be the case this time round. However, at the same time, I somehow feel that your mind may be elsewhere and that whatever relationships issues or opportunities you have, they really are just part of the bigger, bigger picture – you’re life direction is changing, therefore, so are your partnerships.

The only intense day may be 16th January when Venus and Pluto join us up – don’t get too caught up in your emotional angst or even obsessions, it’s a passing transit and the effects won’t last too long.

January 2013 horoscope - Aquarius

By Louise Gilbert
I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the monthly solar horoscope for birthdays from 13th February to 14th March or Aquarius Ascendants and Moons

Things are shifting in January, Aquarius and the month will be more or less split into two halves for you. You begin the month in a very outgoing mood, ready to mingle and make new business contacts, expand your network of friends and even do some online dating. During the first half of January, a large number of planets transit your 11th house of hope, gains and wishes, the global market place and networks. After all that time sorting out your professional life at the end of 2012, you are now ready to make your mark and with Uranus moving with the speed of light through your 2nd house of earned income, you may now see the results of sifting through the job pages. In fact, the past 2 years or so will have put some kind of a pressure or focus on this area of your life anyway and perhaps there was a strong desire to change your life direction or profession. Maybe you decided to go it alone or you were promoted into a leadership role during this time. If so, this was down to the North node / Rahu transiting your 10th house. However, Rahu changes signs on 15th January 2013, moving into the sign of Libra where it will remain for the next 18 months. For you Aquarius, this will be in your solar 9th house of the higher mind, knowledge and wisdom, religion and spirituality. This house also rules world travels so perhaps after all that time of soul searching when Rahu was in your house of life direction, especially those with their Ascendant in Aquarius are ready to go out into the world and make some new experiences that shape your beliefs. This could also relate to you taking up a further education course.

The new Moon on 11th January at 27 degrees of Sagittarius in your 11th house of networks might even in some way help you kick start the entry of Rahu in your 9th house a few days later by bringing people to you that push you into the right direction. Remember, Rahu and Saturn in Libra means, you’re not meant to go it alone over the next couple of years. In your case, this relates to expanding your mind and knowledge and renewing your beliefs.

The concept of partnerships is also emphasised by the nakshatra placement of the new Moon (in Indian astrology, the chart is divided into 27 sections, each is one nakshatra).

After so much focus on what’s going on around you and the bigger picture, it’s then time to let is all sink in and take a little bit of time out. It happens every year that the month before your birthday is always a period when you finish up the old solar year before the new one starts. Take the time to become clear about where you’re going and which of the opportunities that present themselves you want to take up and pursue. As the month progresses the energy shifts from being a lot more outgoing to being a little but more withdrawn. But this is not a bad thing, you’ll need all the energy you have for February and March when you’re asked to step up to the mark whether this is in the job, relationships or your home environment. The second half of January is simply a time to finish up projects and prepare for what’s to come, so try and enjoy that time.

The full Moon on 27th January is in your solar 6th house. In the 6th house, these aspects put the focus on all the slightly annoying, niggly things like your work and health routines and co-workers. So, a work project that you may have been working on behind the scenes may come to fruition or you are now changing your fitness regime. If there is a little bit of pressure at work or sudden changes occur, stay calm.

The month then ends with Jupiter going direct on 31st January in your 4th house of your home environment, your past and emotional state. Your basic outlook on life should be quite optimistic and you should benefit from a stable home environment that provides a lot of security to you now or even property in general – Jupiter rules your house of finance after all.

Have a great month Aquarius and see you in February!
