May 2013 horoscope - Sagittarius

I follow the sidereal calendar; this is the May 2013 horoscope for birthdays from 16^th December to 14^th January or Sagittarius Ascendants and Moons

Sagittarius, as we go into May, the focus for you is still on romance and children and in particular those archers born towards the end of December and early January or with their Moon and Ascendant signs as around 17 degrees of Sagittarius may be going through some extra transformative and life-changing times at the moment. Astrologically speaking, April 2013 was already one of the more intense months of the year so far with the first of the eclipses affecting this area in our lives and with the ongoing square between Pluto and Uranus being exact at the end of April. For you, this means that you are currently have the opportunity to mix and mingle on the social scene – perhaps even after a long time of not wanting to get out there and show your face. With Saturn, the planet that limits and challenges us, in your house of friends and acquaintances, your social networks may have been going through some ‘restructuring’ let’s say and perhaps unusually so, you’ve not been in the mood to party as much as you are used to. You’ve probably been quite busy restructuring your finances and building on your success.

At the moment, however, it may feel as though you are being pushed out of the door by some invisible force and suddenly you make new connection and meet new people wherever you turn up. As the focus is on true love this month, Cupid could be knocking on your door now. This of course, is only possible once there is enough room in your life and the lunar eclipse at the end of April may have provided you with an opportunity to do eliminate some of the contacts in your life you no longer had any meaningful connection to. This may have been a little painful but for the first week in May, the stellium in Aries promises a lot of quick action and reaction, determination and hopefully progress where your love life and friendships are concerned. So, as opposed to April, May should feel more like a month of new beginnings and progress rather than sudden developments and even endings that took you by surprise.

The same goes for children. Although I try and stay away from talking about potential pregnancies in general chart forecasts (In fact, I’m always careful about that), the planets and circumstances are now there for a pregnancy to be part of these transformative experiences some Sagittarians are going through now. 

All of this is leading up to the solar eclipse this month which, in addition to another lunar eclipse on 25^th May, takes place on 10^th May. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon stands between the Sun and Earth. This means that a solar eclipse is always a new Moon, marking new beginnings. However, a new Moon also cuts off the light of the Sun, so whatever is beginning now, may not carry all the details that you need to make informed decisions and really understand what it is that is coming into your life now. As with the lunar eclipse, solar eclipses bring in life’s big events – a marriage or divorce, birth or pregnancy, a house sale or purchase or an important trip. Whatever it is, things are progressing swiftly now, especially with so many planets in Aries, intent on pushing you towards your next step. Whatever is beginning now could be phased in over a period of months and you should expect to reap the rewards of the seeds sown around the time of the next lunar eclipse in October and until February 2014 when you will reach another milestone. So, yes, a pregnancy could be part of the picture that has ‘next chapter please’ written all over it now. For those that are single, the new Moon could also bring a new relationship into your life. Even though you may still feel a little restless, as you have done for quite some time now, you may have not felt this optimistic and inspired in a while. Sagittarians are charismatic anyway but you’re almost irresistible these days. Try and not be too overpowering when it comes to lovers as well as your children.

In terms of vedic astrology, this solar eclipse is in the nakshatra of Bharani, ruled by the Venus, which will be transiting through her own sign of Taurus. The nakshatra of Bharani has an understanding and a sixth sense for the acquisition of accrued wealth but this nakshatra also represents the person who ‘carries and bears’. This nakshatra also carries the meaning of more responsibility but, gosh, again, you know, if you wanted to get pregnant….

And then slowly, Mercury, Venus and Mars are moving into your 6^th house of work, employment and health leading up to the lunar eclipse at the end of May. The 6^th house is about our daily routines so you may become a busy bee for the rest of the month with new work projects landing on your desk or old ones that need to be completed. Perhaps a colleague leaves and you have to take on some extra work load which drains some of your energy, especially around the time of the eclipse on 25^th May. A lot is now brewing underneath the surface and you may discover something or hear about something that even you didn’t know about connected to your work or you realise you need to look after your health better. You are required to look after yourself and if necessary make some small lifestyle changes that can have big consequences. If it’s not about yourself, you may have to look after a parent this month or someone else needs your help or you need to be of service to them. If you have pets, it may even have to do with them! 

Although, yes, this is yet another time of completion for you, I don’t think it’ll be as intense as the lunar eclipse at the end of April but you may still feel a little overwhelmed at this point.

And then it all begins to change. After what may have been a year of you playing the role of the diplomat in a work environment filled with more than its fair share of arguments and conflict, your ruler, Jupiter, finishes up the month by moving into your house of committed relationships….stay tuned for your June horoscope!
